5th Annual DeBartolo All Star Charity Gala raises $400,000
Tampa , Fla. The DeBartolo Family Foundation (Foundation) confirmed today that this year's All Star Charity Gala raised $400,000 to benefit the Bay area's most worthy causes. The Gala, which took place on Feb. 23 at A La Carte Event Pavilion, boasted the attendance of celebrities from Hall of Fame athletes to decorated military personnel to Academy Award-nominated actors.
More than 50 celebrities attended this year; eclipsing last year's 30 and setting a new record for Gala celebrity attendance. Those attending included Jerry Rice, arguably the greatest wide receiver in NFL history; "Jesse's Girl" crooner, Rick Springfield; Chris Berman, the face of ESPN's SportsCenter and Sunday NFL Countdown; Ronde Barber, All-Pro safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Joey Fatone, actor and former member of NSYNC; Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, Ultimate Fighting champion; Roger Craig, former All-Pro running back for the San Francisco 49ers and Randy Cross, former All-Pro offensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers just to name a few.
More than 700 guests enjoyed a romantically gothic theme this year with the room emblazoned in red satin, roses, candelabras and exquisite dishes. Guests also enjoyed a program of testimonials and heart-warming stories given by caretakers involved with the Family Enrichment Center, a deserving recipient of past Foundation gifts. The room was emotionally moved. Afterward, guests enjoyed the musical stylings of Grammy Award winner, Rick Springfield, who rocked the house with some of the 1980s most iconic hits.
According to the DeBartolo Family Foundation office, this year's Gala marked the fifth consecutive year that the Gala has sold out.
